The Allerton Hotel on Magnificent Mile
We stayed three nights at the Allerton Hotel on Michigan Ave. in Chicago over Easter weekend. We were delighted with our accomodations. After reading some of the other reviews, I expected a tiny room. But, our room was very large. In fact, it had a separate seating area with a second TV! The bathroom was also very roomy. My favorite feature was the radiators under the windows. They made great window seats! I could curl up there, keep my bum warm, and watch the people on Michigan Ave. (It was a very cold weekend!)The bed was extremely comfortable, too.
The hotel itself is very charming. The lobby, restaurant, etc. are beautifully redone. The elevators are tiny, but we did cram 7 people into one once! Other reviewers complained about the need to take two elevators to get from the ground floor to the guest rooms, and also that the elevators were slow, but frankly I never found them to be a problem. But I prefer the old and quaint to the sleek and modern, so maybe that's just me.
The food in the restaurant was adequate and the staff was very friendly and accomodating.
The hotel is in a great location - convenient to all the shopping, museums, etc.
I would definitely recommend the Allerton if you are vacationing in Chicago!...More

Gainsborough Hotel
Although my primary purpose for being in London was business, I greatly enjoyed the convenience of this hotel for visiting museums and parks. Compared to other hotels in which I've stayed in the general area, this one is superior. Moreover, the hotel staff was helpful and very nice. The only "debits" are that (1) they don't have a longer-term rate for internet access, and $30/day is a bit steep; and (2) you have to watch for a good rate -- otherwise, it's rather expensive....More

Doubletree Inn at The Colonnade - Baltimore
The hotel was really nice - surprisingly so. The room was huge and clean. There were nice touches: great toiletries, flat screen tv, nice pillows, etc. Definitely worth what I paid....More
